Matthew is a very funny guy and a fine actor. I had a wonderful time working with him, he is a generous and sensitive actor and always made me feel very comfortable. We had good chemistry as actors. awwww sugar buns.. ;D

Well I've only just recently finished what I guess you could call a 10 week evening class, crash course in acting for beginners at the Edinburgh Acting School. MF was my inspiration to finally pluck up the courage to take acting lessons coz in the back of my mind I'd always wanted to do it but didn't have the confidence.
Thanks to MF's wonderful work spurring me on, I now have a small part in a play called "The Roses of Eyam" in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August of this year. I have been in a play before where I had two parts but that was more like "am/dram" with a small local theatre group a few years ago and I hadn't had any proper acting lessons back then. This play will run for five nights and I am so damn nervous I can't tell you! I'm really excited too. The play is set between 1665 and 1666 during The Plague so I get to wear period costume which I'm really looking forward to. ;D
After the play, I'll be going on to do the next stage in acting classes which are a bit more advanced when the new term starts. I'm pretty nervous about that too. So keep your fingers crossed for me folks. Pity the man himself can't be here to give me some good hints and tips on acting and on how to beat nerves which seem to be my biggest problem at the moment.

ow how wonderful! I so happy for you, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed! (plus I believe Franz Ferdinand is coming to that Fringe festival aswell, so I´m bloody jaelous of you ... If you happen to see them say hi to them from me, please ) anyway, if I happen to be in the neighbourhood (and I'm stalking Franz Ferdinand ) I'll come and see the play! edit: feel free to create a new topic

The Festival Fringe is only for us amateurs and is the sort of sidekick of the actual Edinburgh International Festival itself. Franz Ferdinand would have been in the main EI Festival with all the other professional acts. So I didn't see them. Don't kill me but I'm not really a fan of them so I don't think I would have recognised them if I had seen them somewhere here in Edinburgh. The play that I did with the Edinburgh Acting School was REALLY hard going. The rehearsals were so hard and exhausting. We rehearsed for 3 months and intensively for about 6 hours non-stop without a break everyday in the last few weeks before the opening night. It was hard still having to go to work everyday, coming home for a short while and then straight off to rehearsals. Then after we finished rehearsing late at night we would go for a drink to unwind and have a laugh with each other which was really nice. So most of that time I didn't get home until about midnight and then I'd have to get up the next morning for work and do it all again. PHEW! Was I ever tired after we finally finished the play! We had a few teething problems in the first couple of performances but those were eventually ironed out and we actually got a five star rating from a newspaper (the Edinburgh Evening News I think it was). So all our hard work paid off. Not so bad for a bunch of drama students huh? ;D Ok I've probably bored you to death about all that so I'll shut up now hehehe. ;D

wow! a five star rating? thank god all that hard working wasn't for nothing then:D and who cares about being in the amateur section thingy at a festival, I mean, it's still a festival (the same one with franz ferdinand (i'll shut up now about it, kay? ) anyway, I'm very proud of you:) do you have any upcoming projects?

Well one of the friends I made from the play is in another acting group that recently did a production of Terry Pratchett's "Wyrd Sisters" (which was so funny and I laughed my head off). This friend has invited me to join the group so of course I said I'd be interested. She said that they are thinking of doing a more serious play the next time around next year. I'm more keen to try some more comedic roles like one of the roles I played in my first play. I might try something in the backstage area of the theatre for the next one though. I've always wanted to learn about things like stage make-up etc. The last time I joined a group to learn stage make-up though, I ended up getting roped into acting and got those 2 roles that I mentioned. So who knows what I'll be doing next! Watch this space.........

Hi Dana sorry its taken me this long to reply to your message there but I've only just seen it here on the MFF site right this minute. I wasn't getting anything at all from this site sent to my e-mail address like I used to. I'm so technically challenged too that I wasn't able to fix this problem but I think I've fixed it now. If only Birkoff was real coz then I and all of us fans could have his techy expertise in these matters hehe! ;D Thanks so much for the kind reply though. You are still the sweet lady that I knew at CBTS. I miss you and all the others in that group so please say hi to everyone for me ok? I just celebrated my birthday recently (the big 3-0 oh no! I'm no longer in my 20's eeeeeeeeeeeek!! ) and I was wishing that you and the CBTS and Oversight gang could have all been there with me.

Hey thanks Dana. It's great to hear from you again. Yeh there was some sort of misunderstanding about something I said and that was the end of that. Go figure. I'm still sad not to be there anymore. I still have all the e-mails you and some other CBTS members sent me with all those gorgeous captures of our favourite Matthew from when he was in LFN. I still look at them now and again and admire them

People might want to see this interview at cbts with another actor from La Femme Nikita, Robert Knepper from Toys in the Basement (not much to do with Matthew, I'm afraid): www.cynbythesea.com/Press/interviews/Knepper.htmlHe's the infamous T-Bag from Prison Break, btw. A good interview.
